“Heaven is important, but it’s not the end of the world” - N.T. Wright at Soularize in the Bahamas, October 25, 2007

Such a great quote, I had to share it right away.

N.T. spoke quite a bit about heaven not being “up there” in a space in our physical universe and that salvation is not about where you go when you die. The quote above was in response to a question about what Tom believes about what salvation is. He started out by saying “heaven is important, but it’s not the end of the world.”

He had a quite a bit to say about “on earth as it is in heaven.” Honestly, I felt a lot like I was hearing Dallas Willard with a British accent!

Okay, more to come later.

  1. Wright’s perspective on heaven is very hopeful. It retains the best of pie in the sky while allowing the believer to hope for the best for the world here and now, and it makes it a whole lot easier to understand what the Jewish prophets were rambling on about.

  2. Sounds to ME like Brian McLaren w/a British accent… he’s been beating us over the head with that sentiment for years!

    Great quote, thanks for that.

  3. All due respect to Dallas Willard and Brian McLaren, but no way NT Wright sounds like either of them.

NTW is in an altogether different class of theological depth.
