New Blogging Tool For Christians Only:

If you hate Microsoft MySpace then here is something that will REALLY get under your skin. Xianz is a new blogging system and social networking system for Christians only. . . . Christians only? WHAT?

Xianz

You have to be a Christian to sign up to Xianz.com - sounds to me like an open invitation for pagan hackers to have some fun. Not only does Xianz separate the sheep from the goats, but they also separate the older from the younger so that you can have virtual chat-friends from your age group only. God forbid we would have the older teaching the younger. Or vice versa.

I won’t say too much here, in case i make enemies . . . but Xianz does NOT appeal to me nor do I want my children to blog their lives inside an artifically created goldfish bowl that ONLY SEEMS LIKE it will be safe from undesirables . . . namely, non-Xianz.

(Via TallSkinnyKiwi.)

I’ve seen this elsewhere, and I resisted commenting about it. The last thing we need is a “Christian MySpace.” Are Christians afraid of having friends on MySpace who aren’t Christian? The horror! Let the Christian ghetto thrive and prosper, huh?

  1. Can’t belive that. I got this from The Today Show this week: http://www.mypraize.com/

People don’t get why being sub-culture is detremental to mission. I PRAY this site tanks.

    Randy

  2. thats nice that you’ve taken your “Christian” liberties to completely trash my site…

MyPraize is NOT only Christian, it never was meant to be, and we are no different then your church.. We accept anyone willing to be in our enviroment…. So next time you want to knock on sites that cater to a Christian community, you might as well say the same thing about your church.. because their purpose, mission, and acceptance policies are the same..

  3. from the current frontpage of xianz:

The MySpace alternative for Christians! It’s invite only! To start using Xianz immediately, you will have to be invited by another member. This website is closed to the general public. It’s invite only.

    Just for information, of course.

  4. Joe -

I think Joshua was responding to Randy and not my original post. Randy mantioned mypraize, which is different than the xians site.

I’m pretty sure Joshua knows little of Randy’s church, however, and I think that many emerging churches would have issues with his comparison of that site to their churches, as far as “acceptance” policies go…

Props to him though for using Joomla!, it’s a great content management system.

  5. You’re right apologies.

Quite why Joshua attempts to discuss someone else’s comment on a third party blog is beyond me.

Both of the myspace clones mentioned above are equally obnoxious.. almost as bad as the original IMO!

  6. Hi,

Christ Community Church in Brazil, IN has an amazing Myspace for their youth group Epidemic. They are receiving a lot of attention. Many ultraconservative Christians are coming down hard on these kids for wanting to reach out to their friends through Myspace. Check it out if you get a chance.

  7. I understand the frustration with Christian knock offs. However, what do people think about a normal site like myspace, but governed with Christian values such as, umm… no porno, pervision and heavier monitoring against gangs, guns, drugs, swearing etc. Is that such a bad thing? I came across http://www.dittytalk.com Normal site, but with Christian values.

I am sure there are more, but I personally think we need some values before we become like every other great civilizations that destroyed itself from the inside out by debauchery and wickedness!
