A Different Perspective

Faith, Art, Politics, and the Emerging Church

about the podcast/blog

a different perspective from alan hartung on the emerging church, politics, faith, and life

I have to admit, it’s pretty rare for me to read a post and see something about Christianity I have not remotely thought about. There are different takes on various ideas, insights I glean, and sometimes truths beating me over the head in such a way I begin to truly understand, but to actually go, “Wow, I’ve never thought of anything like that,” just doesn’t happen.

So I recently subscribed to Lainie Petersen’s blog, and this post: Walking the Underdog, or The One Ring (Another Missive from my Atheist Husband) presented an idea had never really considered. Or at least I can’t remember thinking anything remotely like this.

Her husband wrote the post, evidently, and if I can summarize in a nutshell it would be that when a religion with such a strong rooting in persecution throughout its history becomes the predominant religion in the area, the adherents of the religion will divide themselves to be different and draw the ire of others… to feel persecuted.

That’s a very simple way to explain an eloquent post. So go read the whole thing here.
