You could type for days by adding names from every political party. Never trust a man or women who wants to be a politician. The reason why I am commenting is that you forgot the only thing that should be on your list for Things to remember on election day. 1. Don’t be so lazy and VOTE!!!!!! If every one voted that said they voted or signed up to vote had indeed voted bush would not be president now. You should fight apathy among 18 to 24 year olds. Get them on your side you could win any election. I talked to a group of kids once that made up a age group of 19 to 21 and they could not figure out how Bush had won. A few made the comment that they registered to vote and all their friends had too. I then explained that registering is just that. They thought that registering was voting. I think this years message instead of “Rock the Vote” should be “Cast the Vote”. Not that it matters, they’d still be voting for politicians.

The problem is that the list would be just as long if the other party were in power. So voting for one party over the other is not the answer. Drastically reducing or even eliminating government power is the only way to curb the such abuse. I think perhaps the only moral option is not to vote. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil; voting for an entity that operates through coercion and violence is immoral. I suspect people avoid voting not because they are lazy but rather because they are disgusted. Perhaps if we all refused to vote, the authority of those elected would be profoundly undermined and deter them from abusing their power…

Not voting is certainly not a good choice. Those who want more and more power would continue to get elected. Large groups of disgusted people not voting might lead to a revolution, but in today’s technological age a violent revolution in the U.S. equals suicide. I wouldn’t condone a violent revolution any way, but not voting leads to a more corrupt, less accountable government.
Blaming it on politics in general, also, is a tactic I expect to hear from Republicans often the next couple of weeks. “The problem is that the list would be just as long if the other party were in power.”
Sure, that’s the same thing the democrats said when Clinton’s mid-term launched the Republican contol of Congress. I felt there needed to be a power switch then, as I do now. I’m not a Democrat, but the abuse, incompetence, and erosion of freedom with this Congress and President is unparalleled in my lifetime. Even though there will be scandals with the other party in power, don’t think this is just politics as usual. Our liberties are fading away right along with the respect other nations used to have for the United States.
