And that’s saying a lot.
By the time you read this, much of my stress will be relieved. But right now, I’m at the end of the worst birthday ever.
Evidently, because I host many websites with Christian affiliation, my server was targeted for an attack, and the attack was successful. cPanel is an amazing piece of software, and they issue regular security updates. If you are one of the unfortunate and very few to get hit before a security update is automatically installed, much mischief occurs. In my case, each domain on my site’s index pages were affected, along with a few other files. Which means on my b-day, I’m bouncing messages back with my techs, when I’m not on the phone with them. And I’ll probably see (or at least be aware of) the sunrise tomorrow.
Oh, since you might be wondering, the propaganda page they placed up referenced the catholics, the pope, and I think the arminian genocide which muslims in Turkey vehemently deny. It happened, and denying it and attacking people’s servers does not mean your ancestors were not heinous murderers. There are few cultures, if any, which would be able to claim they had never been the instigators of mass murder.
I’m waiting for a response from my techs before I can do more work, which is the only reason I have time to type this post…
I actually have quite a bit of work to do, but I used my own site as a guinea pig to figure out how to undo the hacker damage on database-driven sites. The fact you’re reading this means sites are going to start getting restored at a much faster rate…

Alan, Sorry your birthday was plagued with the hacking problems. We noticed it last night on our site as well. Thanks for working hard through the night to clear it up.
