A Different Perspective

Faith, Art, Politics, and the Emerging Church

about the podcast/blog

a different perspective from alan hartung on the emerging church, politics, faith, and life

I did something I haven’t done in a long time. I followed a link to an anti-emerging church website. As I read through the comments, I realized two things: one, they were thanking God they weren’t like an emerging church pastor; and two, I was thanking God I wasn’t like them.

Then I realized both the angry little group and I have something in common. We need to take to heart the parable where the pharisee thanks God he’s not like the sinner who is beating his chest saying, “Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

So, Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner. I fall short and have not made living in your ways central to my life. I’m a sinner, and I need your help.

One Response to “Lord Have Mercy On Me, A Sinner”

  1. Wow – I had an identical experience this week. Parable and all. Thanks for posting this – it’s encouraging to know that others are wrestling with the same thing.
