Path to Mickey: parody of Path to 9/11: “Cory Doctorow:

The Path to Mickey is a youtube parody of the Disney movie ‘The Path to 9/11,’ a propaganda film that blames the 9/11 attacks on Bill Clinton. In The Path to Mickey, Mickey Mouse is shown to be the motive force behind Stalinist purges, the Holocaust, and the assassination of JFK.

A friend of mine sent out info on the Path to 9/11, and I was extremely disappointed to find out it was a conservative propaganda piece that conveniently forgets that Clinton nearly begged for legal wiretaps to pursue terrorists. Maybe that’s why Bush took the illegal route?

  1. did you even watch it? You would have seen that just about everyone including the treaded Bush admin took plenty of blame. Your perspective is skewed

  2. Which version should I have seen? The one that aired in the U.S., or the version abroad? Abroad, they didn’t feel the need to edit out the most horrendous inaccuracies.

Mark, this movie was so bad Michael Bennett called on ABC to correct the inaccuracies. Yeah, that Michael Bennett.

And besides the 9/11 Report, the source material for the screenplay was written by a person in the Bush Administration.

While Michael Moore’s film had some merit, it was mostly a propaganda piece. I think people who have not seen that film can get that idea rightly. Just because Bush is also shown as incompetent in the Path to 9/11 doesn’t mean it’s not a propaganda piece. Moore’s film had a lot of true things in it, too.

And the film conveniently left out postivie things the Clinton Administration did do in trying to fight terrorism. That was part of the path, too.

I’m not saying the Clinton Administration didn’t do a lot of things wrong leading up to 9/11, they most certainly did. I’m just saying a conservative propaganda piece shouldn’t be aired as history (which is why ABC changed its rhetoric, and why different versions had to air here than abroad).
