A Different Perspective

Faith, Art, Politics, and the Emerging Church

a different perspective from alan hartung on the emerging church, politics, faith, and life

Please pray for my mom, Allie Hartung. She went into the hospital yesterday. She’s been short of breath for a couple of weeks, and they want her hospitalized to find out what’s wrong.

If you could, pray it’s not serious, her stay will be short, and her health will return quickly. My mom’s a fifteen-plus year cancer survivor, so she’s tough. I’ve been thinking about flying back to Indiana in October if I can afford it. Now I think I’ll make that early October to see her while she’s recovering.

  1. Alan,
Have been praying for your mom. Please keep us updated.

  2. She might be released today. Evidently, she had blood clots in the lungs, and it would have killed her had she not been hospitalized and had it discovered. She’s on blood thinners now.

She also had some tests which are long overdue. She’s a cancer survivor. Several years ago, my mom’s doctor retired and the new doctor was supposed to schedule her annual exam. The call never came, and my mom did not follow up on it. She’d already been a survivor for nearly a decade, but she should’ve continued with the exams. I’m just hoping and praying everything’s okay in that department as well. We should know soon.

Thank you so much for the prayer. It means a lot to me.

  3. Alan,

I just saw your post. Glad she got to the hospital on time and they have the clots under control. I’ll be praying for her.

    Peace,

  4. Thanks, Brian.

No word yet on the tests, but she was released from the hospital on Friday and is doing okay. As soon as I hear about the cancer tests, I’ll let you all know.
