Chertoff: We must “eliminate people who are susceptible to becoming killers”: “Mark Frauenfelder:
Michael Norto (retired journalist: The AP and BBC, 1988-2004, in Haiti)
says:
Heard Aug. 11, an NPR interview with Michael Chertoff, US cop of cops. The question he addresses is long-term anti-terrorist policy, the need for psychological studies of what makes ‘a person turn from an ordinary person to a bomber.’
This is his answer:
‘Clearly at the end of the day, we’ve got to eliminate that pool of people who are susceptible to becoming killers.’
‘Eliminate’? The interviewer did not ask him to elaborate.
Il a la tete de l’emploi, as one says in French.

My friend Mark asked me why I go there a few posts ago. I’m honestly not trying to cause trouble. I go there because consistently in this administration I hear and see things like what Mr. Chertoff said. “… eliminate that pool of people who are susceptible to becoming killers.” I truly believe as Christians it’s our responsibility to hold the leaders of our country accountable, whether we agree with their politics in general (or in whole, for that matter) or not.
What exactly is your objection? You think these people should be allowed to run in our country unchecked? I am not sure what you are disagreeing with.

“eliminate the pool of people…”
Even if he didn’t mean kill them, comments like that put Americans in danger because of the incompetence of how this administration uses its words. For the love of God, I mean it took Bush like what two years to quit using the word crusade paired with his war on terror?
