Celtx – Open Source Screenwriting Software
Ask and you shall receive. I searched for open source screenwriting software, and voila, I found there was a most excellent piece of software called Celtx.
The writing tools included give it a leg up on Final Draft, believe it or not. Sure, there are some features of Final Draft Celtx does not have, but the writing tools gives Celtx a leg up. And you can’t beat the price
Thanks for the link. I’ve wanted to buy final draft for a while but haven’t. I’ll have to test out Celtx.

I work for a TV station. I sent the link to the production department to try using for commercials and shows. Thanks for the link. Amazing the stuff is free.

Thanks for the info, seems great, can’t wait to
give it a try.
Are you sure the software is really “open source” ?
From what I see on the site, it seems freeware (fine enough for me), but there’s no source archive available and no mention of a GPL/FreeBSD/Apache kind of Open source license.
C’est dommage, a true open source software would have allowed the community to improve the product.

Sorry for rushing to conclusions earlier, it *is* really open source, licensed under CePL, a genuine license they forked from Mozilla’s Public License:
http://www.celtx.com/CePL/
And there’s a link on the website to a *.tar.bz2 archive of the software source code. Yeehee !
My plan: write, direct, edit and polish a short film with as much as open source as possible.
cheers
