The bottom line is that this verse (Hebrews 13:17) cannot be translated to mean that leaders are accountable for how people think, believe, or behave. Leaders are accountable for the manner in which they lead, not for how people follow. This kind of thinking only leads to a performance-driven bondage for the leader and anyone who is considered a follower. (parenthetical mine)

thanks for the link and portion you quoted. I literlally breathed a sigh of relief as I read it.
Not that the scripture was necessarily weighing heavy on me but that I too often
feel responsible for the decisions that those I am leading make.
