New Study Reports that Search Sites Provides Twice the Conversion Rate When Compared With Other Acquisition Sources: “The Dow Jones story: Search Sites Better At Getting Shoppers To Buy: Study, reports on new research from WebSideStory that shows search engines (both paid and organic listings) provide more than twice the conversion rates than other forms of Internet advertising and marketing….

This is why I stress having a search engine savvy designer do your original site. A lot of people start with some guy who is a hot designer, but knows little or nothing of search engine marketing. Then they look later to getting search engine rankings.

Hint: If a web designer even mentions “meta tags” as being prominent with search engine listings, run!!! That’s ancient news and has little to no influence on rankings any more, especially in Google, Yahoo, and MSN, which is where 97% of searches are going through…

If you find a good developer who understands search engine rankings, hire him. If his graphic skills are lacking, convince him to work with another freelancer on the aesthetics of the site, but make sure he’s the project manager and the graphic designer is taking his cues from the developer.

If you need some search marketing, paid or organic, I happen to do that :D And of course, I develop sites, too.
