Evidently, a part of the “No Child Left Behind Act” includes a mandate that schools turn over private contact information for students to the military for recruitment purposes.
Isn’t that special.
I believe the specific requirement is that the military gets the same info college recruiters do. But yes, parents can opt out of having their child’s info released to the military. I heard some horror stories on NPR – the recruiters are sneaky, aggressive, and persuasive.
