A Different Perspective

Faith, Art, Politics, and the Emerging Church

a different perspective from alan hartung on the emerging church, politics, faith, and life

I’m thinking about moving back on a boat in the marina. I did it for several months a couple years ago, and I loved it. it’s about the only way I’ll be able to afford to live by myself near the beach. And, I really dig it. I love it. The only bad part is the morning, when I have to walk 250′ to the marina bathroom.

It’s very small, but it works for me. I have to get a storage unit for a lot of stuff, because all my junk won’t fit on the boat. But there’s plenty of room for all my clothes, a TV, and if I’m lucky… this one’s close enough to the marina apartments to get wireless (I had that last time).

I won’t do it until October at the earliest, though, so the boat may not still be available. The guy I rented from actually owes me a couple of months (long story), so I may just make a deal with him to do four months at cost (the rental fee of the boat for the marina) then pay the regular rent after that (650).

I’m not sure I want to do it again, but it’s really tempting. I need to get back into the Venice area. It’s where my faith community is, and Anaheim’s driving me nuts (I love the people I live with, but the area’s just horrendous for my tastes).

  1. :) Only 650, spectacular. Just think of your morning…jaunt…as more exercise :)

  2. A buddy of mine used to live on a boat in Marina Del Rey. It’s definitely a bachelor’s life, but it sounds like it’s right up your alley. Peace.

  3. sounds like a good choice – right there on the beach. unless you get a big storm of course.
