Good Practices
The little things are what give you an edge in this business. I firmly believe that. I booked my second episodic guest star role because I sent a postcard to a casting director. CD’s and Directors and Producers can recognize an actor who appreciates the business side of this industry. If you take care of that end, perhaps you are also dedicated to the art of your craft, too. At least they know you put out the effort!
My audition went really well, I hope I get the callback for it. Yesterday, I sent a postcard thanking the CD for calling me in for the part. I am legitimately thankful when I get called in, as there are so many actors to choose from. Of course, I know the main reason I want to send a postcard is to keep the image of me in their mind… especially if I did a good job in the audition! I want to be called in for other stuff if not a callback for this one!
A good practice I have neglected lately is to always be acting. I am going to start submitting to student films again, as I want to be in front of the camera often working on my craft. It is difficult to do student films when you have been getting paid for acting, but they are also fun to do with the right crew. If you want to be a good actor, act, act more, and act some more. Act act act and never quit acting!
